Blunt Encourages State Employees to Participate in Charitable Campaign

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today announced the kick-off of the 2007 Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign (MSECC). Last year state employees donated more than $1 million to charitable organizations through MSECC.

“Last year’s successful campaign demonstrates the generosity of Missouri’s state employees,” Blunt said. “I am proud of their hard work on behalf of Missourians and their willingness to assist worthy organizations that help improve the quality of life in our state.”

MSECC began in 1985 and gives state employees a convenient, cost effective way to contribute to participating charitable organizations through payroll deduction or a one-time donation. Since the start of the campaign, state employees have donated more than $17.4 million to local, statewide and national charitable organizations.

“I am honored to join with Missouri’s state employees in their continued support of numerous charitable organizations. Their generous spirit will once again help charities make a difference,” Commissioner Mike Keathley said.

“We are fortunate to have state employees who donate their time and talents to make the campaign a success. Over one thousand charity organizations count on state employees for their financial generosity,” said campaign coordinator Gayla Vandelicht.
