Blunt Appoints Mallory to Kansas City Area Transportation Authority

 

KANSAS CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt announced the appointment of Gary L. Mallory to serve on the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.

Mallory, 65, is Cass County Presiding Commissioner. Mallory has previously been appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging in 1993 and the Secretary of State Commission on Elections in 2001.

Mallory is actively involved in several associations and councils including the following: Missouri Association of Counties, Missouri Transportation and Development Council, Cass County Corporation of Economic Development and Kansas City SmartPort.

Mallory’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Oct. 13, 2008. Mallory will replace Jerry Duvall, whose term has expired.

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (ATA) is an interstate agency between Missouri and Kansas. The ATA has a seven-county jurisdiction: Cass, Clay, Jackson, and Platte in Missouri; and Johnson, Leavenworth, and Wyandotte in Kansas. The Authority is governed by a board of commissioners, five from Missouri and five from Kansas.
