Blunt Celebrates Fourth at Annual Independence Day Parade in Marshfield

MARSHFIELD– Gov. Matt Blunt today joined with Marshfield residents to celebrate the Fourth of July, serve as the grand marshal at the 128th Annual Independence Day Parade and read the Declaration of Independence.

"As we celebrate the birth of our democracy we are reminded that we are blessed to live in a nation where all are given the chance to succeed and freely express their opinions," Blunt said. "On this day we honor America's patriotic spirit and that the country we call our home is a place of freedom and opportunity for all."

The governor is a sixth generation Missourian and many of his relatives and ancestors hail from Webster County.

First Lady Melanie Blunt, their two-year-old son Branch and Leroy Blunt, the governor's grandfather, also joined Gov. Blunt in celebrating the Fourth of July with Marshfield residents.
