Blunt Announces Grant to Support Marshfield Firefighters

MARSHFIELD–Gov. Matt Blunt announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded the Marshfield Rural Fire Protective Association a grant to enhance the services they deliver.

“This grant will ensure that the Marshfield Rural Fire Protective Association has the necessary tools at their disposal to protect their firefighters and the safety of the citizens they serve,” Blunt said. “I commend all public safety officials for the outstanding jobs they do everyday to protect the safety and well being of all Missourians.”

The $50,256 grant awarded to Marshfield is earmarked for operations and safety. The department will use the grants to fund training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG) awards one-year grants to local fire departments. AFG provides the departments with the tools they need to enhance the safety of the public they serve and their firefighters. The grants are administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Preparedness Directorate’s Office of Grants and Training in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
