Statement from Gov. Matt Blunt on McClain's Appointment
The Coordinating Board for Higher Education today named Dr. Charles McClain as the Interim Commissioner for the Missouri Department of Higher Education.
"Dr. McClain's willingness to accept this appointment will help build on the progress we are making for higher education in Missouri. After years of budget cuts, my administration secured level funding for higher education last year despite facing difficult budget constraints. Now, this year's budget includes a significant $20 million increase for higher education, including more money for scholarships."
"Dr. McClain's appointment creates the momentum to move us forward in this exciting time. His vision and leadership, even in the interim, will surely pave the way for the extraordinary opportunities awaiting higher education in Missouri."
