Blunt Orders Department to Collect Employer Data for Medicaid Recipients
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt has signed an executive order directing the Department of Social Services (DSS) to prepare Medicaid beneficiary employer reports on a quarterly basis. The report will be called the Missouri Health Care Responsibility Report.
“This is about transparency and gathering information that will help us make good decisions as we work together to expand access to healthcare for all Missourians,” Blunt said. “Taxpayers will be better served if the state implements a procedure to gather this data regarding the employment of those who receive Medicaid.”
The Missouri Health Care Responsibility Report will present information about where recipients of state-funded healthcare are employed. It will list those businesses with at least 50 Missouri employees who receive or whose dependants receive Medicaid. The report will make industry wide comparisons by sorting employers into categories and will include the state’s cost to provide coverage for each employer. It will also include information on health insurance benefits each listed employer offers to full-time and part-time employees, their spouses and dependants. The report will be issued quarterly, starting with the first calendar quarter of 2008 and will be posted on the DSS website.
