Blunt Applauds Senate for Updating No Call Law, Restricting "Robo-Calls"
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today applauded the Senate for passing tough new provisions to improve the state's No Call List. Senate Bill 49 adds cell phones, restricts "robo-calls" and information sent by fax, graphic image, and text message.
"Updates and improvements to the state's No Call List are long overdue," Blunt said. "I am pleased the Senate has worked to provide Missourians added protection from unwanted solicitation and I urge the House to quickly take up and pass this important legislation. I hope to have the opportunity to sign these improvements to the No Call List into law and help ensure that Missourians are able to protect themselves from these forms of unwanted communications."
The state's No Call List was adopted in 2000. Since then, the General Assembly has considered but not passed any changes to the law. Blunt believes the Senate bill is an important package of improvements and is optimistic this year that the House and Senate will succeed in updating the state's No Call List.
The governor applauds Senate Bill 49's sponsor, Sen. Kevin Engler for his work in the Senate and looks forward to continuing work with Rep. David Pearce who has filed similar legislation in the House and will handle the Senate bill as it advances through that chamber.
