Gov. Matt Blunt Statement on Legislation Making Alternatives to Abortion Program Permanent

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt issued the following statement on House Bill 1055 that makes the state’s Alternatives to Abortion program permanent and enacts provisions to keep abortion providers out of classrooms.

"Missouri has again sent a strong message that we value the dignity of all human life and will continue to pass laws that will reduce the number of abortions in our state. I applaud the General Assembly for supporting my call to make the Alternatives to Abortion program permanent.

"Abortion providers like Planned Parenthood should not be supplying our students with information about sexual health. This vital legislation ensures that our children get the information they need from their teachers, parents and physicians.

"I made a promise to Missourians that I would work to enact strong pro-life legislation that respects and values all innocent human life. I look forward to signing this important legislation that furthers the cause of life in our state."
