Blunt Marks Session’s Start with Prayer Breakfast
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today hosted the annual Governor’s Prayer Breakfast where he highlighted the important role faith plays in leadership and government. Former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft was the keynote speaker.
“As Missouri’s elected representatives embark on a new legislative session we offer them our prayers for graciousness and wisdom,” Blunt said. “As we begin a new year this event offers an invaluable opportunity to join together across party and religious lines and begin this session in a spirit of goodwill.”
This morning’s event featured both Democrats and Republicans as well as leaders from several religious backgrounds. The governor was honored Attorney General Ashcroft participated in the event and was pleased to hear the perspective of a public servant whose faith is demonstrated in his service.
The traditional event, held at the commencement of each legislative session, focused on the importance of leadership, faith and community in shaping policy.
