Blunt Appoints Bommarito to Board of Police Commissioners
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt appointed Vincent (Vince) J. Bommarito to the St. Louis City Board of Police Commissioners.
“Vince Bommarito has a long tradition of volunteer service to the St. Louis area,” Blunt said. “He has been a trusted friend to St. Louis and will make a great addition to the board. I am grateful for his willingness to serve in this important capacity.”
Bommarito, 75 and lifelong resident of St. Louis, is CEO of Tony’s Restaurant, Inc. and a partner at America’s Center Catering. He is a member of the Regional Commerce and Growth Association, Downtown St. Louis Partnership and chairman of its Beautification Committee. Bommarito has been the recipient of numerous awards including the St. Louis Business Journal Man of the Year and the Missouri Restaurant Association Restaurateur of the Year.
The Board of Police Commissioners-St. Louis City is responsible for operation of the St. Louis Police Department. The commissioners set policy, determine promotions and work with the chief of police in providing public safety services to the citizens of St. Louis.
Bommarito’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Jan. 31, 2011. He replaces Michael Quinn whose term expired.
