Blunt Commemorates Faith and Freedom at Independence Day Celebration in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD– Gov. Matt Blunt celebrated the important role of faith and our freedom at the James River Assembly "I Love America" Celebration. Gov. Blunt addressed the crowd and also led the Pledge of Allegiance.

"America is great because America is good. It is as true today as when it was first written nearly two hundred years ago. Our nation's commitment to faith, family and freedom is the source of our greatness. Independence Day is a great opportunity to remind ourselves that we must remain true to our Judeo-Christian heritage if we are to remain a great and good nation," Blunt said. "As we celebrate our freedoms with our family and friends, let us also honor and remember in prayer all those men and women of our Armed Forces who are defending our nation and our freedom."

First Lady Melanie Blunt, Branch and their family also joined Gov. Blunt at the "I Love America" Celebration.
