Blunt Appoints Members to St. Charles County Convention and Sports Facilities Authority
ST. CHARLES - Gov. Matt Blunt appointed Kevin F. Kast (R) and Thomas N. Wapelhorst (R) to the St. Charles County Convention and Sports Facilities Authority.
Kast, of St. Charles, served as president and chief executive officer of SSM St. Joseph Health Center until February 2005. He received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and master degrees in communications and public administration/ health services management from the University of Missouri- Kansas City. Kast has been actively involved in several professional and community organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives, St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and St. Charles Rotary. Kast’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 27, 2010.
Wapelhorst, of St. Charles, owns Walters Jewelry, Inc. and is a certified gemologist with the American Gem Society. He is involved in several community organizations including Enterprise Bank Board Member, Knights of Columbus, and St. Charles Historic Society. Wapelhorst’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 27, 2008.
The St. Charles County Convention and Sports Facilities Authority is comprised of five members. The commissioners are appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate. No more than three of the commissioners appointed shall be of any one political party, and no elective or appointed official of any political subdivision of this state shall be a member of the Authority.
