RFG Fuel Waiver Issued for St. Louis Area
ST. LOUIS—Gov. Matt Blunt today announced that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved his request to waive the requirement to sell reformulated gasoline (RFG) in the St. Louis RFG areas which covers the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, Franklin County, Jefferson County and St. Charles County.
The waiver allows regulated parties to distribute and sell conventional gasoline (CG) in the St. Louis RFG area. The waiver issued by the EPA remains in effect until midnight on Oct. 7, 2005. Regulated parties will not be allowed to introduce CG into their terminal storage tanks after October 7 and the gasoline dispensed from such tanks for distribution must meet all RFG standards no later than November 6.
"I am pleased the EPA has responded to my request to help ensure that an adequate supply of gasoline remains available as Missouri and the nation continue to deal with the impact of hurricanes Rita and Katrina," Blunt said.
The governor will continue to work with federal and state agencies to monitor the supply and distribution of gasoline for Missouri to help alleviate supply and distribution concerns following Hurricane Rita.
