Blunt Announces Staff Changes
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today announced three administrative staff changes.
Blunt said Chuck Pryor would become the Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Legislation. Pryor, 47, of Versailles has served as Blunt’s Director of Legislative Affairs since the governor took office in January 2005 and served in an identical position while Blunt was Secretary of State from January 2001 to January 2005. Before joining Blunt’s staff Pryor served as a member of the Missouri General Assembly.
Replacing Pryor as Director of Legislative Affairs is former State Representative Todd Smith. Smith, 47, of Sedalia served in the Missouri General Assembly from 1984-1994 and from 2002 until officially resigning today. Smith also served as the Presiding Commissioner of Pettis County in between his stints in the legislature.
Blunt also announced that his Communications Director Spence Jackson has accepted the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Development for Communications and Community Development. Jackson, 35, of Jefferson City, has served as Blunt’s spokesman since the governor took office in January 2005 and held the same position while Blunt was Secretary of State.
Brian Hauswirth will serve as interim Communications Director. Hauswirth currently works as the Communications Director for the Missouri Department of Corrections and previously worked at St. Louis radio station KTRS and Jefferson City radio station KLIK.
“I am pleased to announce these appointments and believe they will enhance our ongoing mission to bring real and positive change to Missouri state government,” Blunt said. “We are honoring our charge from Missourians to improve service while being responsible stewards of their hard-earned tax dollars and this will continue to be our focus.”
