Blunt Nominates Two to Serve on the State Fair Commission

 

JEFFERSON CITY - Missouri Governor Matt Blunt today nominated Barbara Hayden and Jerry King to serve on the State Fair Commission. Along with eight other board members, Hayden and King will oversee the operation of Missouri's state fair.

Barbara Hayden, 64, is the chief financial officer of Starline, Inc., manufacturers of handgun brass in Sedalia. Born in Warrensburg, Hayden was raised near Kansas City and moved to Downey, CA in 1969. Hayden was the mayor of Downey from 1980-1988, and has served on multiple boards and commissions in California and Missouri including the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission and the Missouri Valley College Board of Directors.

Jerry King, 70, operates a dairy farm in Butler. King served three terms as the state representative for the 125th district. King has prior organizational experience working as the president of the Bates County Fair Board and has served on multiple other boards and commissions including a present appointment on the National Beef Board.

The Missouri General Assembly formed the State Fair Commission in 1995. The state fair is an annual event in Sedalia.

The appointments of both nominees are subject to senate confirmation.
