Blunt Appoints Randy Cole to Serve as State Fire Marshal
JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today appointed Randy Cole to serve as state fire marshal.
Cole, 46, has served as the interim fire marshal since the resignation of Bill Faar and as the assistant state fire marshal since 1996. Cole has worked for the Missouri Division of Fire Safety, a division of the Missouri Department of Public Safety since 1986, serving as a fire investigator and as a regional chief investigator.
Cole is a former Cole County sheriff’s deputy and has received extensive training and certification from several accredited agencies in law enforcement and fire safety. Cole holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from Central Missouri State University and is a graduate of Jefferson City High School.
"Obviously this position and those of local Missouri firefighters are even more critical to our communities in this era of global and domestic terrorism," Blunt said. "I am pleased that Randy Cole has agreed to accept this important public safety position and I look forward to his continued leadership in Missouri’s fire fighter community."
Cole’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
