Gov. Blunt Statement on Proposal to Build Mississippi River Bridge

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on the unsolicited proposal by Zachry American Infrastructure to build the Mississippi River Bridge:

“We are very pleased to have received this proposal for the Mississippi River bridge and we are excited to share it with public officials in Illinois. I met with MoDOT director Pete Rahn and leaders of the Regional Business Council this morning to discuss the proposal. We all agreed it represents a new starting point in our efforts to find long term solutions to grow the St. Louis region.

“We are working to schedule a meeting in St. Louis with Governor Blagojevich to discuss regional concerns, including the Mississippi River bridge, and this proposal is one of the issues I am looking forward to discussing with him.”
