Statement from Gov. Matt Blunt on Clinton, Mo Building Collapse
CLINTON–One man is reported dead and several other people are injured after a building collapse last night. Gov. Matt Blunt issued the following statement in response to this tragedy.
“Melanie and I are saddened by this tragic event and will keep the community and the affected families in our thoughts and prayers. I have directed state agencies to continue assisting the people of Clinton as they recover from the collapse of the building.
“I commend the heroic first responders from Clinton and Henry County and the surrounding areas and the cooperation they have received from the Kansas City area fire departments, and the Whiteman Air Force Base Recovery Team.
“The Missouri Highway Patrol, Water Patrol, Division of Fire Safety and Missouri Task Force One also participated in the response all supported by a Department of Public Safety Command Bus. The State Emergency Management Agency will continue to monitor the situation and assist in recovery operations.”
