Gov. Blunt Statement on Planned Parenthood Lawsuit
“I am disappointed by this decision which undermines the legislature's ability to spend tax dollars in accord with the values of Missourians. In this case, the appropriation clearly prevented Planned Parenthood from receiving these funds. Since the contracts were outside the scope of that authority they were illegal and void. Missouri case law is clear that restitution is an appropriate remedy in that situation. It is unfortunate that the majority misapplied these basic tenets of contract law.”
