Statement from Gov. Matt Blunt on Anti-Terrorism Investment Policies

The statement follows a Terror-Free Investment Summit held yesterday at the Capitol.

“No Missourian wants to invest state resources or state tax dollars in any organization that might have ties to a terrorist group. We should do everything that we can to ensure that tax dollars are not somehow inadvertently abetting terrorist organizations and that we are not spending taxpayer assets in a way that would finance terrorist activities.

“I am pleased the Missouri State Employees' Retirement System (MOSERS) was one of the first retirement plans in the nation to adopt a proactive anti-terrorism policy to weed out companies that support terrorism without unwittingly hurting those businesses whose activities are supported by the United States government, and whose companies provide jobs for Americans.

“I call on other retirement plans in the state to join MOSERS and consider adopting anti-terrorism policies to further ensure that Missouri resources do not benefit terrorists.”
