Statement from Gov. Matt Blunt on Protecting Medicaid Funding
The U.S. House and Senate have recently announced an agreement to add language to their tax-extender packages to protect states from a crippling change to the provider tax allowance. Under the language the provider tax would be codified at 5.5 percent.
“We have been working closely with our delegates in Washington to shield Missourians from a potentially huge budget hit, and today Missouri’s Congressional Delegation is to be commended.
“They have worked together to ensure Missouri’s concerns were heard at the Capitol and that our Medicaid program will be protected from what could have been a devastating blow to our budget. The changes enacted with the help of their leadership will minimize the impact to Missouri’s budget and ensure we have the stability needed to design and implement a transformed Medicaid program.”
