Gov. Matt Blunt to Expedite Vaughn Extradition Decree and Deliver to St. Charles Sheriff’s Office Tonight

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt is expecting to soon receive the extradition decree for Christopher D. Vaughn from Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Blunt will sign the extradition and he has made arrangements for the Missouri State Highway Patrol to immediately deliver the decree to St. Charles County Sheriff's office tonight.

“This is a tragic and horrible case. Melanie and my prayers are with those who today mourn for Kimberly, Abigayle, Cassandra, and Blake, whose senseless deaths have broken so many hearts.

“As governor, I have the duty to help bring the accused to justice and act prudently to ensure that heinous criminals stand against the charges of which they are accused.

“My signature on this extradition mandates that Mr. Vaughn will be returned expeditiously to Illinois to face justice for the crimes for which he is accused. I have made arrangements to immediately sign the extradition and send it to the St. Charles County Sheriff's office tonight so that the lives touched by this terrible act may see justice served as quickly as possible.”
