Governor Encourages Media to Provide Access to State of the State Address

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today encouraged broadcast outlets around the state to provide access, including live access, to his third annual State of the State address scheduled Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at 7 p.m.

“The annual State of the State is an opportunity for me to provide a progress report for Missourians,” said Blunt, the first Missouri governor to deliver an evening address. “My objective is to provide as many Missourians as possible the opportunity to access the address as it is delivered, however I need broadcasters help to provide that access.”

Radio stations KWMU in St. Louis, KSSZ in Mid-Missouri, KRPS in Kansas City and Missourinet statewide, as well as television stations KRCG and KOMU in Mid-Missouri and KMOS in Warrensburg have confirmed they will carry the address live this year.

During the Address Blunt will discuss Missouri’s accomplishments over the past year, his legislative goals for this legislative session and the new budget he will send to the Missouri General Assembly. Blunt is expected to unveil his proposal for an improved healthcare system for low-income Missourians, his goals to provide tax relief and his vision for increased funding for education.

The governor today encouraged Missourians to contact their local broadcast outlets to ask them to carry the State of the State live.

The State of the State Address will be available to television stations live via satellite at 7:02 p.m. Coordinates are as follows:

7:02 – 8:00 pm CT
Galaxy 3, transponder 9
C-band
Downlink Freq: 3880.00 MHz
Audio: Mono 6.2 and 6.8 MHz

Radio stations interested in carrying the Address should contact the Governor’s Communications Office at (573) 751-0290 to make arrangements.
