Blunt Appoints Stratman to Arts Council

 

JEFFERSON CITY—Gov. Matt Blunt announced the appointment of Karen Stratman to the Missouri State Council on the Arts.

Stratman, of Washington, does freelance voice over production for commercials, documentaries, news stories, corporate and educational programs. She is also a part-time talk show host and program director for KLPW Radio. Stratman received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communication from St. Louis University and a master’s in communications from Webster University. Stratman holds a lifetime Missouri teaching certificate.

Stratman supervised the English department at Washington High School, where she was in charge of grant writing, curriculum development and budget. She is the recipient of multiple awards in broadcast journalism and public speaking coaching and instruction.

Stratman’s appointment is for a term ending on Oct. 13, 2008. Stratman replaces Helen Goldstein who resigned.

The Missouri State Council on the Arts represents all fields of the performing and fine arts and provides grants to nonprofit organizations in order to encourage and stimulate the growth, development and appreciation of the arts throughout the state.
