Blunt Inspired by Missouri’s Troops Efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt continued his trip today with a visit to Missouri troops stationed in Afghanistan and a scheduled meeting with President Hamid Karzai.

“Missouri troops are doing a tremendous job, and it is very inspiring to witness the roles these fine young men and women are filling,“ Blunt said. “It is exciting to see what they are doing and the professional way by which they handle what can be extremely dangerous and volatile situations.“

During a conference call with reporters on Wednesday Blunt was asked what he was learning during his visits with Missouri troops. The governor told reporters that morale was high and our soldiers feel they have the needed supplies to continue their vital missions, and the importance in receiving mail and particularly written letters from their families and friends.

As we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day and the ultimate sacrifices made by our Armed Forces, Blunt asks all Missourians to keep those serving in harms way in their thoughts and prayers.
