Vaughn Extradition Decree Delivered at Blunt’s Direction

JEFFERSON CITY–At Gov. Matt Blunt’s direction, the Missouri State Highway Patrol tonight delivered extradition paperwork for Christopher D. Vaughn to the St. Charles County Sheriff’s office. Blunt received and signed extradition paperwork from Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and arranged for the Patrol to immediately deliver the decree.

“Kimberly, Abigayle, Cassandra, and Blake deserve justice for their needless deaths,” Blunt said. “As so many mourn for their lives cut short, I have ordered the appropriate state agencies to work together to ensure that Mr. Vaughn is brought to justice. My signature mandates that he will be returned as quickly as possible to Illinois to face the crimes for which he is accused.”

The governor acted quickly to ensure that justice may be served as swiftly as possible. The governor assembled state resources and several statewide elected offices to review and finalize the paperwork needed to complete the extradition decree expeditiously and ensure it could be delivered tonight.
