Blunt and Granholm Place Friendly Wager on World Series
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt and Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm have placed a friendly wager on the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers.
"Gov. Granholm and I have placed a friendly wager as the Cardinals and Tigers meet in the World Series," Blunt said. "Cardinals fans will not be disappointed as our team is hot off a victory over the New York Mets."
In the unlikely event that the Cardinals lose the series, Blunt will put on a Detroit Tigers jersey, hold a sign that says "Jim Leyland is my Tiger" and consume a Lil' Caesars Pizza washed down by Vernor's Ginger Ale. On the same day this occurs, Blunt will call the Mitch Albom Show on WJR Radio in Detroit and sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." All of this must be documented with a photograph made available to the media.
If the Tigers lose, Granholm will put on an Albert Pujols jersey, enjoy a Missouri branded Angus steak and the choice of a bottle of Missouri's award winning wine, Bud Select or Fitz's Root Beer, and read the first chapter of Three Nights in August about Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa. On the same day this occurs Granholm will call the McGraw Millhaven Show on the Big 550 KTRS. All of this has to be documented with a photograph made available to the media.
"St. Louis is a great baseball town. Cardinal fans are certainly die hard," Blunt said. "Last year was a heartbreaker for the Cardinals, but I am certain they have what it takes to win the World Series."
