WHEREAS, children are one of Missouri’s most vital and valuable resources and are key in our state’s economic development and our best investment in the future; and
WHEREAS, education is the foundation upon which our democratic society is built and where each child is afforded the opportunity to ascend to his or her highest level of achievement; and
WHEREAS, the children of Missouri deserve the best education possible and Missouri is dedicated to improving the quality of education; and
WHEREAS, parent involvement is a major factor in determining a child’s academic success; and
WHEREAS, parents, guardians, grandparents and other family members should be encouraged to recognize the important role that family members play in the success of children’s educational experiences and become active participants in their child’s education;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Matt Blunt, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, do hereby proclaim September 27th, 2005 as
